Panic Engines Bandcamp

The first cassette release by my analog synth noise project Panic Engines "A Box On Angles, Thin Arms Extended Irons" (Disembraining Songs, 2013) is now available on Bandcamp. You can listen for free at any time from the Bandcamp page, or the release is available for download for the very reasonable and affordable price of $5 Canadian (funds received from download sales will help support my addiction to gummy worms...and may also be put towards the release of more Panic Engines and other super-cool stuff!).

And, need I remind you that "A Box On Angles, Thin Arms Extended Irons" was named one of the top 5 drone albums of 2014 by BlogTO!

Here it is!

Ken is gone

I am greatly saddened to learn of the death of my friend and fellow improviser Ken Aldcroft. It's difficult to believe that the vibrant and ever jovial, joyful man that I just played music with a few weeks ago is suddenly gone. It is a great loss.

Michael Lynn has created a page gathering together many of Ken's performances. It is one of many tributes I expect to see as news of Ken's passing spreads -

The Bim Prongs at Cabaret Voltaire - Atlantique

So the date has been set and preparations are underway for my first performance in Halifax, Nova Scotia since the late 80s!

Here are the details:

The Bim Prongs (W.A.Davison solo)
at Cabaret Voltaire - Atlantique
1873 Granville St, Halifax, Nova Scotia
Monday, June 27, 7 - 8:30pm

"Multidisciplinary artist/musician and NSCAD alumnus W.A.Davison founded Recordism, an artistic ideology based on chance and automatism and inspired by Dada and Surrealism, in Truro, N.S, 1984. Since then, Davison and his partner S.Higgins have spread the good word of Recordism through visual art, poetic texts, films and videos, live art and music performances, underground networking, and collective actions and games in their adopted home of Toronto and in numerous cities around the world. On June 27th, Davison returns to Halifax to present a one-night-only performance by his latest experimental audio/performance art project The Bim Prongs. Though much of this performance will be improvised in response to the venue itself and audience interactions, we can expect a collage of sounds created with primitive electronics, objects found on site, dictaphone field-recordings from Halifax, pre-recorded material, primitive vinyl record playback/manipulation, performative actions, and poetic texts developed during the performance via chance processes and audience involvement (game strategies)."

new comic

I have a new comic on 4Panel.ca. It's from a series I've been working on lately using appropriated imagery. The first few I did, including "Device," were simple, close-up crops of found comic art but the work is evolving to include an element of collage. We'll see where that goes. Anyway, lots of other great stuff at 4Panel! Have a look...

Death Match!

The final release on the great Inyrdisk label is a massive 4 CD box set called "Death Match". Six Heads has a track on it, along with pretty much everyone else who ever contributed to the label's 10-year run. With most of the limited release going to the artists themselves, there are very few copies available to the general public. If you're interested (and you should be!), act fast!
